Looks like he got a new job (congrats!) and won't have time to continue making content like RedDead Radio, Hop Blip, and a Jump, etc.

From Jared:

So friends, I've been offered a pretty wonderful job opportunity, one that's too good to pass up. This new job is going to take up a lot of my time, too much for me to be able to regularly commit to a robust content schedule. So here's what's going to happen:
The short version:
  1. I'm getting a great new day job. I'm not ready to say much more about it yet except that it's exciting and I doubt you've heard the last from me. I'll be writing with a group called Free Association.
  2. I'm going to stop making regular content at IGN and Kinda Funny.
  3. I'm going to stop making Red Dead Radio. One more episode to come.
  4. I'm going to put the Hop, Blip, and a Jump videos on hiatus, but at least one more video to come.
  5. I'm going to keep making Pockets Full of Soup.
  6. I'm going to reduce the Patreon tiers to more modest levels.
  7. I'm going to complete delivery of Patreon commitments you've already paid for.
  8. I'm likely going to keep streaming old games at twitch.tv/hopblipandajump and posting the VOD on the YouTube channel, and I'll likely remain active in games history work including some writing and hopefully some podcasting.
The detailed version:
  1. Red Dead Radio is shutting down. We'll put out one final episode this week, and after that the show is done.
  2. My regular work at Kinda Funny is over for now. You'll likely see me there again at some point, but my last episode of Gamescast as a co-host will record today. Debatable episodes 3 and 4 will likewise be distributed with me at the helm, and I'll co-host my final Games Daily this coming Monday.
  3. Pockets Full of Soup should be mostly unaffected, and I'll keep making episodes as opportunity allows.
  4. I'll be releasing a new episode of Hop, Blip, and a Jump next week, which may be the last one for a while.
  5. For now, the Contestants Are You Ready project is on hiatus. It takes a LONG time to make an episode of CAYR, too much time for me to realistically commit with this new job.
  6. I'll continue making Am I Boring You Yet episodes at least through the end of February for Patrons.
  7. I'll likely keep up ReCollection, a game-history oriented video stream and VOD about rebuilding my game collection.
  8. As of today, I'm shutting down the $50.00 correspondence tier on Patreon. Everyone will get the letters they're owed up to this point, including any backlogged letters, but I don't want to commit to writing Pen Pal letters beyond those.
  9. Likewise, the Patreon Producer $100.00 tiers will be shut down as of today.
  10. We'll hold two more Google Hangouts for Patrons at the $25.00 tier, but after that I'll stop charging for these. Since I've made friends with a lot of you in this group, I'd like to keep hopping on Hangouts just for fun in the future if you're up for it. The next meet up is Saturday, Jan 26 at 2PM PT.
  11. I'll deliver Patreon exclusives at least through the end of next month. I've been auditing my output and realize I actually owe y'all one of these, so keep your eyes open for it!
  12. If there's anything you want to contact me about regarding this PLEASE message me via Patreon.

Best of luck to him on what he does but I'm personally glad he won't be on Kinda Funny anymore. He is really annoying most of the time.

Best of luck to him on his new job.

I'm happy for him, curious to see where he ends up.

He certainly doesn't have Greg or Tim's energy or charisma but I enjoy the perspective and encyclopedic knowledge he brought to the show.

Must be a pretty major gig to end all those projects.

Holy shit, this is a blow to Kinda Funny but man good for him. If he has a job that great that he can't pass up, I'd be more mad at him passing it up for the sake of Kinda Funny, Red Dead Radio and his other projects. I'd rather him do something that he knows he can't pass up than regret it later on.

I don't think it's that big a blow honestly. There are a lot of KF fans who didn't like Jared. Plus they just got Fran who is much more enjoyable to listen to. I think they'll be fine.

Damn didn't expect this seemed like he loved kinda funny. I like bran so at least they got someone pretty good to feel his boots but I will miss jared's Kindness and love for old games. Brought a different perspective to kinda funny and I appreciated that.

I do believe that him leaving and them having a door open to someone who will provide more modern takes will help them in the long run, which I can see that side of things. It still sucks to see someone leave so soon, but I wonder who they'll bring in the future as a part timer to fill in that role for Jared. I watch KF content pretty much everyday, and I'm really open to whoever the bring. I enjoy Fran too and feel just the same as you, finding him more enjoyable.

Was probably my least favorite host on KFGD (mainly due to any EA story with him would result in no discussion because "no comment") but I can't say he doesn't have an infectiously optimistic personality and a great positive demeanor. Massive congrats to him and good luck to him on his future endeavors.

I looked it up and could only find a digital content design company based in NY and SF.

I liked listening to him, especially when him and Tim interact.

Congrats to his new job, I wonder if it is in industry.

I kind of get the dislike with Tim cause I see complaints about it all the time on here and the subreddit, I just don't see the full "hate" for him. I get the "get hype moments" get tiring / old really quickly, but I do think KF would lose its way without him considering how much he does content wise.

Props to him for paying Sisqo for that brilliant plug. Always struck me as a smart dude, good luck to him.

Is that his new job? Would make sense, he lives near SF.

To me, Tim has Greg's "gamer bro" personality but without the same charm. I can't quite describe it but whereas Greg comes off as natural, Tim seems like he's forcing it.

I wish him the best. His time on kinda funny for me was a mixed bag. He could be rather long drawn and never quick to his point, but his insight at times was amazing, better than anyone else on there. His game knowledge and historical knowledge of gaming is almost unmatched. While there are times I can say that other members are just wrong at times in what they say, with Jared he always backed up his knowledge with examples that at the most had me disagree but never question if he was wrong factually.

Just recently Tim and Jared hosted games daily, and the entire time I was just in utter disappointment on how unprofessional Tim was being with his lack of regard and courteous behavior was towards Jared. While the next day when he hosted with Andrea the first thing out of his mouth was how much he enjoyed hosting with her. I think Jared will be in a much better place for himself personally going forward. In a personality driven business like kinda funny, I think he was a fish out of water.

Best of luck to him. And hope he does awesome things

Truly happy for him. He can get on my nerves with his hottakes but he's a genuinely good person and it sounds like it's really going to be a great opportunity for him. Go Jared.

A lot of the stuff he does just seems to me like it's really geared toward a younger demographic, like Rooster Teeth Lite.

Glad he found something and look forward to what this means for KF. I like Jared as a person but couldn't really handle him back on Game Scoop and he pretty much stopped me from listening to Gamescast. Just not really into the style of discussion he has on podcasts. Never wished for him to leave or anything though since there are tons of podcasts/shows and they don't all need to be for me.

Would've been a bummer, if he hadn't spoiled the ending of RDR2 within the first few minutes of a Gamescast.

This means I can finally watch all of KF's content now, without fear of random spoilers!

Why do people not like Tim? Tim is my favorite if only because he stays up to date on gaming news more than the rest of them. I like how people like Jared and Andrea laugh at him for thinking Persona 5 is coming to Switch in the future. Tim will have the last laugh on that one.

He seemed a little out of place at KF but I've always loved Jared's love and appreciation of old games and his passion for gaming in general.

He's also probably one of the nicest people in the industry and I'm excited for this new opportunity for him.

I'm reminded why I stopped following the KF group on era lol.

Anyway, I'm sad to hear it. I liked Jared's energy once he figured out the group dynamic. He was enjoyable, and I really wish him luck with whatever he's doing going forward.

No offense to the guy but he just didn't fit in with the KF style and really pushed me away from the gaming content for a while there.

Makes sense, his retro appreciation never really seemed like a good fit for kf, they seem to skew younger towards a generation who probably doesnt appreciate retro games past maybe the snes
